Track ServSafe Manager Certification Expiry Dates Automatically

The ServSafe Manager certification is required by most state and local health codes for at least one person in charge per shift. It expires every 5 years -- long enough that the renewal date sneaks up on you. ExpirVault tracks every manager's ServSafe certification and reminds you well before the exam needs to be retaken.

What happens when a ServSafe Manager certification expires?

Most health codes require a certified food protection manager on-site during all hours of operation. When that certification lapses, you're in violation the moment you open your doors.

Operating without a certified PIC

The FDA Food Code (and most state adoptions) require a certified Person in Charge (PIC) during all hours of operation. If your only ServSafe-certified manager's credential has expired and a health inspector walks in, you're cited for not having a qualified PIC on duty.

Repeat violation escalation

A first-time missing PIC citation might be a warning. But if the health department returns and the certification is still expired, the violation escalates -- potentially to a mandatory re-inspection, a hearing, or a conditional permit that limits your operating hours until the issue is resolved.

Manager turnover gaps

ServSafe Manager exams require study time, scheduling with a proctor, and a passing score. When a certified manager leaves and their replacement hasn't passed the exam yet, you have a compliance gap that could persist for weeks -- exactly the window when an inspector is most likely to flag you.

How ExpirVault keeps your restaurant ServSafe-compliant

5-year renewal countdown

Five years is long enough to forget. ExpirVault tracks each manager's ServSafe certification date and sends reminders at 6 months, 90 days, 60 days, and 30 days -- giving them time to study, register for the exam, and pass before their current certification lapses.

Certificate storage

Upload ServSafe Manager certificate PDFs and wallet cards. When a health inspector asks to see the PIC's credential, open it on your phone in 10 seconds. No more searching the office for a paper certificate someone filed 4 years ago.

Shift coverage visibility

See at a glance which managers at which locations have current ServSafe certifications. If you're about to promote someone to PIC or open a new location, you'll know immediately whether they need to pass the exam first.

Every shift needs a ServSafe-certified manager. Are yours current?

ExpirVault tracks ServSafe Manager certifications across your restaurant group and reminds you well before the 5-year renewal is due.
